Photonics Modules and Systems ODM/OEM

Egismos has many years of experiences in the fields of optoelectronic and photonics integration. We currently develop photonics modules and support related solutions for laser measuring, laser scanning, laser projection, image recognition, robotics, autonomous navigation, laser obstacle detection, biomedical photonics, and other ODM projects. We have already developed photonics modules such as laser distance measuring modules, laser range finder modules, camera modules for any kind of image application, laser scanning and laser projector modules. We also manufacture ODM related systems or finished product like laser distance meters, laser range finders, object patterns recognition systems, laser virtual keyboards, laser projectors, laser sensing systems, obstacle detection sensors, laser navigation modules, all according to our different customers or market requests.

Electro-Optical and Opto-Mechanical Assembly

Egismos multi-talented teams provide services of design and manufacturing of complex electro-optical systems from mere concepts to end products. We have a special attention for the field of biomedical applications and integration processes, detection and surveillance systems (night security, 3D imaging or scanning modules), new technologies for gesture recognition and robotics navigation. Egismos has an advanced class 10 000 clean room equipment for the assembly of our most sensitive products, with all the necessary controls for particles, temperature, humidity, and ionization. All our facilities have protection against ESD and we implement strict laser handling procedures so as to deliver the best integrated electronic, mechanical, and optical assemblies.

Egismos supplies custom-built opto-mechanical assemblies, either static mounted optics or fully integrated optical components in moving mechanical assemblies. We work closely with our customers and industry-leading optics suppliers in order to get a thorough understanding of the applications of each assembly. Thanks to our experience in assembling optical and mechanical elements, we are able to reach the most accurate positioning and ensure the most robust performances of optical assembly in mechanical systems.

Once optics have be received at our facility, they undergo "scratch" and" dig" inspection in accordance international norms. The inspection is undertaken following our customer requirements: either sampled inspection, or 100% of the received components are checked. Our procedures and equipment are set up along with our customers to ensure that the optical components won't be subject to latent failure during later working operation. High quality has a cost and require special consideration when integrating mechanics and optics. All optical devices are highly sensitive to contamination therefore we use specific equipment, production methods and adapted test facilities. We design customized tooling and test equipment in order to carefully manage the key features of each product and have a smooth manufacture flow, thereby ensuring the utmost quality.

Laser Distance Measuring Module, Laser Range Finder Module Manufacturing

Egismos has developed a series of laser distance measuring modules that can support industrial applications and can adapted to various laser distance meter markets. We can modify the module parts or parameters to meet your requirements, such as the laser wavelength, the interface or the measurement accuracy. We can also propose to help you with the design of specific external casing and the development of molding tools in order to provide a finished good for your own brand as ODM or contract manufacturing. This solution is very cost efficient and is based on the existing Time of Flight laser technology for laser distance measuring. We also welcome projects for custom made laser distance measuring application from the early design steps up to the assembly of your own end product.

How to build your own Custom Laser Module ?

Egismos designs and manufactures custom laser modules. In order to provide our customer the best adapted products, we need agree on the right components and calibration to apply, so as to reach the final target.

For example, when building a customized laser module, the main components and characteristics to we need to set up first are the following :
1- What laser diode ?
2- What Optical lenses (or other optics) ?
3- What type of laser driver circuit ?
4- What optical and mechanical specific designs ?

1. Laser diode:

The main characteristics of a laser diode to set up first are: its Wavelength (or color) , its Output Power (or its laser safety class), its Operating Current / Voltage, and its environment Operating Temperature

We can provide diode laser modules with wavelengths comprising 405nm, 450nm blue laser module, 520nm green laser module, 635nm, 650nm red laser module up to 1550nm infrared laser module wherein a laser module output power can be equal or smaller than its laser diode operating power (as stated on the corresponding laser diodes data-sheet).

2. Optical Lens:
The following are the basic optical specifications that we need to agree upon before starting any laser module production.
- What are the main requirements for the beam collimation: divergence angle, laser spot size, working distance
- What choice of laser pattern: laser dot, laser line, laser cross line, or any kind of laser pattern achieved through using DOE (Diffractive optical element), for such an option, please provide us your intended laser pattern drawings.
- What main characteristics for line laser module: line laser span angle or laser line length, what laser line width, laser line straightness (bend) accuracy at which working distance, what laser line power uniformity range, and other boresight requirements: central, tilt, and rotation requirements.

3. Laser Driver Circuit:
The driving circuit of the laser modules can be either APC (Auto Power Control) or ACC (Auto Current Control). An APC driver controlled laser module will automatically adjust the input current in order to output a constant value of optical power. An ACC driver controlled laser module will in another way have a constant value of input current, while the output power may vary.

Apart from CW mode (continuous wave mode), our laser modules can be designed to input a TTL modulation if needed. It can be fixed to run at a certain frequency (Hz) or with a specific duty cycle, or can it be alternated via an external PWM input. For such functions, please provide us your electronic requirements description.

4. Optical and mechanical properties:
The laser modules dimensions (diameter and/or length of laser module casing) can be modified according to your needs, and technical drawing can be provided for evaluation.
The laser module casings can be designed into many shapes and with different materials, their surfaces can be treated for different operating environments like IP, anodization for electrical isolation etc. Some differences in a laser module casing design might help to reach different operating temperatures so as to offer the best protection for the inner components.

The main characteristics to define for mechanical requirements are the followings: dimension requirements, boresight (or coaxial angle accuracy) of laser module, specific shapes and tolerances description.
